German term

Werkzeugatmung

German to English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering machining

From legacy TM I have 'mould breathing', however I did not manage to proof it. In any case, searching on related industry documentation I found no mention to 'mould breathing' , could that translations be wrong or simply not the actual term in use by industry?

NOTE: I am actually proofing the PT translation and using EN just as reference. Btw, the PT translation in use is 'mould deformation').

@ acritely thank you, I would think in that direction too, but finally the client confirmed their previously approved terminology (which was not available in the termbase at the moment of the project) and translated to English it is in the sense of something like `mould deformation`. Well, since I am not an expert on the field, I cannot argue with that localization, so I have used it.

Could outgassing or venting be a good term? From the context, it looks like the pressure drops when the equipment 'breathes', which makes me think of breathing out.

@Jack Sorry, that is really annoying, I have just clicked again in 'Edit', then I uncheck the box and I press 'Making Changes" - and if I open again to I see it is again check! Not sure why... but you would like to give a last try, it is a pity to not be able to grade you, I apologize for that.
Jacek Kloskowski Feb 19, 2017:
No, somehow still not, but never mind. :)

@Jack Hi, sorry! I did not noticed that box was checked, I have changed and I hope you can post your answer so I can confirm as the best one ;)
Best,
Soraya

Our pleasure. I couldn't post the answer as I am not a professional member.

Thank you very much to all contributors. Now I see the actual term I have is a literal translation, not the correct localization.

Careful 'Mould breathing' is from a German site. I would use 'deformation' as this seems to be a recognisable English term.
Jacek Kloskowski Feb 18, 2017:
If you use the term in quotes as "mold breathing" I think it should be OK. Otherwise, use the term mold deformation I guess.
Jacek Kloskowski Feb 18, 2017:
"Mold Deformation During Injection Molding

As a result of the cavity pressure generated during injection molding, the mold and clamping unit deform. Since this
deformation disappears to some extent as the pressure decreases, the effect is called 'mold breathing". In the research
project "Analysis of Mold Breathing", the SKZ investigated the effect of mold breathing on molded part quality in mold setups
with different degrees of rigidity as well as on different clamping systems."
