1. Remove any load on the winch. Before disassembly of pinion shaft assembly, study the orientation and order of all components.
2. Remove jamnut (item 9) and the (2) locknuts (items 8.1-8.2) from pinion shaft (item 2).
3. Remove retaining ring (item 1) from pinion shaft (item 2).
4. Unthread pinion gear (item 3) from pinion shaft (item 2).
5. Pull back ratchet pawl (item 10), remove pinion shaft (item 2) through bushing (item 11.1). Dispose of all old parts.
