La verdad es que parece que aquí hay algo mal expresado, pero lo que yo entiendo es que el buitre (o halcón) tiene el pico abierto "cupped open", listo para dar un picotazo. También entiendo que el armiño, zarandeado por el ave en vuelo, se ha hecho una bola en ese momento, y por eso tiene el rabo por encima de la cabeza.
