You understood the meaning right and proposed an accurate translation but, please note that the Government of Spain eliminated the word "imputado" from the Criminal Indictment Law (Ley de Enjuiciamiento Criminal) and substituted it with "investigado" on Marc, 2015. The legal principle is called "non bis in idem" (not twice for the same reason).

En todo caso, si quieres ir por la otra línea, diría: absuelto o condenado anteriormente por el mismo delito.
Nota: estoy dando por hecho que la prohibición del double jeopardy es equivalente al non bis in idem nuestro. O sea, que es necesario que el sujeto haya sido anteriormente condenado o absuelto (por sentencia o auto de sobreseimiento libre).
