Hello everyone,
For some unknown reason there is a missing line in the official script for a documentary:
It begins at 0:01
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJ9eqct20i0
What I hear is:
With Marcus Dupree it's not about how good he was or wasn't when he played. But it's about the forces that took him and his family and ultimately crushed their dreams and then how they responded.
I'm not very sure of "or wasn't when he played" and "and then how they responded"
Have I heard those bits correctly?
Thank you.

"was or not" and "the way they responded"
The sentences are correct. But we can make correct sentences with many words. So, i propose you close words That you could have years, but that have the same meaning. Just a matter of style.
