pulleys vs. sprockets Generally, you are correct on pulleys vs. sprockets, but it is not uncommon to see the term "pulleys" applied to wheels in a chain drive mechanism. A case in point here:

There are sprockets for chains; otherwise, all else are pulleys, I think: idler pulleys, tensioning pulleys, camshaft pulleys, a crankshaft pulley.
