The company claims to be number 1 in their field. Another company is blatantly copying their products.
Here are the sentences
I do not understand precisely what they are trying to say with "uns nicht streitig machen.

Fällt mir dazu spontan ein.

: How can you stop someone challenging you? You may be able to stop them beating you, but in a free country you can't prevent them from making the attempt.

We won't relinquish that spot easily.
Sometimes, it’s the mere tweaks I like best..
The other suggestions will get the message across but I think the language needs to be pepped up a bit..

"Canon is accustomed now to being the leader of the pack in terms of sales volume and it won't relinquish that spot easily."

Misleading? Seriously? You’re way out on a limb there, Helen. That’s the very reason why I picked it in the first place - its obvious association with competitive sports. Anybody can check and verify in what contexts people use it…

: I don't see this as 'pepped up' language. And since you ostensibly know so many English expressions, you could have chosen something less repulsive than 'ways to skin a cat'.

Well, in this field you don't get away with a pedestrian style. I also would appreciate it if comments focused on the substance of my entry, not peripheral things.

German references
Since there seems to be a lot of "fighting" going on around here, the asker may be better off with an explanation of the German term:
"etwas streitig machen (jemandem das Anrecht auf jemanden, etwas bestreiten, jemanden, etwas für sich beanspruchen: den Engländern die Vorherrschaft auf dem Meer streitig machen)"
http://www.duden.de/rechtschreibung/streitig
"etwas beanspruchen, was bereits ein anderer beansprucht
[Feld streitig machen]
als Rivale auftreten; jemanden zu verdrängen versuchen
[Rang streitig machen - comes closest here, IMO]

Three dictionaries say:
A) Jemandem ein Recht streitig machen - to contest someone's right to do something
Pons Wörterbuch Easy English - Helen Blocksidge (editor)
B) Feld/Rang streitig machen - to challenge someone's position / to be a serious threat to someone
English-German Dictionary of Idioms: Supplement to the German-English Dictionary of Idioms - Hans Schemann (editor)
C) streitig machen - to contend / to dispute
Englisch-Deutsch. A - J: Erster Band Erste Abtheilung [sic, old book...] - Joseph Leonard Hilpert
My Oxford-Duden dictionary: "dispute somebody's right to do something".

Discussion
ist der Platzhirsch in Sachen - fine, number one, I get it
- fine, nobody is going to challenge / replace / surpass you or even dispute that you're the one at the top
- ?!? what's that supposed to mean? Indirect way of telling your employees: "Work harder, you wimps!"?
