German term
Anschlussfrachten

Transport / Transportation / Shipping
This is one of the conditions in a contract order for a shipping company and I take it to mean that if there is some sort of delay which requires additional means for the order to be shipped further the costs will only be borne if the client knows about it immediately but I can't find an elegant solution for "Anschlussfrachten". Any ideas anyone?

Transshipment
This refers to the cost for transfer of the goods from one mode of transport to another. In the past this usually concerned the loading and unloading at a port, so sometimes this is called "port freight" or "port charges".
The phrase "Kosten für Standgelder und Anschlussfrachten" in standard terms and conditions may be translated as "costs of demurrage and port freight" or "demurrage and port charges".
Nowadays it is more common to refer to a "terminal" rather than a "port", so this becomes "terminal charges".

additional freight charges
Here's the context, from the same or a similar document. I assume it means additional freight charges resulting from delays or other problems.
Hindernisse/Standgeld

: "additional freight charges" is a valid translation, though strictly speaking it is concerned only with the transhsipment from one mode of transport to another

onward transportation
In the case of a breakdown or another event (which, here, must be reported) that prevents the original transport vehicle being used, an alternative means of transport is required for onward transportation

Thank you for an excellent suggestion, in a different context I would probably have gone for this. |
