To me, the German doesn't NEED the word "hinterlegt"; the fact that you can adjust something means that there is something to adjust "hinterlegt" by definition. I'd suggest "the automatic operation can be adjusted to a default
setting of...", or something along those lines.

Parametrieren bezieht sich nach meinem Wissen immer auf ein (Computer) Programm. Deshalb gehe ich davon aus, dass es sich um eine computergesteuerte Automatik handelt, die "parametriert" werden kann - d.h. einzelne Parameter des Programms können verändert werden. Die "hinterlegte" Automatik wäre nach meiner Logik die "Default" oder "Standard"-Programmierung.
Discussion
Etwas abgeschwächt wäre ein einfaches programmable controlling system, oder PLC, wenn es sich um eine SPS handelt.
