multi-target sign consistency

This is not INDICATORS. Indicators are figures or percentages that allow you to read something. This is used in the semiological sense of meaning...clumped together with the SHANNON information schema as exemplified in the French text below on marketing. Normally, it's sender, receiver, message and channel. But here SIGNS is used instead of message [signs as the component of the marketing message]. The French use the words signs [from semiology] in their marketing jargon more than Americans, though the semiology of marketing is studied in the US, the term is not OPERANT in a technical way in the field of marketing. Ergo, it presents a problem for translation. What the phrase refers to is the consistency of semioligical signs used [logos, pictures, slogans, music or other signs [not billboards, for example] used in the marketing campaign] Virgin Atlantic is an example.and in that case, the consistency is of the LOGO..They operate in many business fields and their signs have multi-target consistency.

Cheers

As the word sign in semiology translates the French SIGNE, I would use it....

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks to everyone - I'm sorry about the lack of context but this is some type of outline - 2 lines and then a heading. I appreciate all of the various points of view which gave me help. I was able to consult with a graphic artist professional who felt that this answer was the best. Jane came up with elements at the end :-)"

indicators of multitarget coherency

Declined
I think this must refer to a campaign of advertising for a variety of target groups (age, social class, income group, etc.). They need a variety of different approaches but there should be an overall coherency so that brand will preserve it's overall identity.
Coherency is much better than consistency, here, because coherent means that the whole system holds together, even if the elements are quite disparate (they all fit together like the pieces of a puzzle). Consistent implies repetition, which could be quite monotonous

If you consider the meaning of cohere in the sense of sticking together rather than of consistency, you might translate this as:

"signs of cohesive multi-targets"

You think?
