I am not really sure, but since it's religious, perhaps it could be "intercessory prayer", and prayer here meaning "person who prays"?

agree Christine Andersen : In the Christian context, intercessor is normally used, and prayer groups practise intercession for those in need, the sick, the bereaved - precisely as the women here do.
