This is taken from a brochure advertising a manufacturer's new grader. This section describes switching from automatic to manual transmission. I have never heard of this concept of "alavanca que opera por pulsos" - does anyone know how it translates into English?
Caso o operador prefira, ele pode selecionar o comando da transmissão para o modo manual através de um interruptor no console lateral. Nesse caso, a seleção de marchas é feita por meio de uma alavanca que opera por pulsos, sem utilização de canaletas para marcha ou sentido. A operação é muito simples e a máquina obedece aos comandos do operador.

A rear wheel SbW system by Delphi called Quadrasteer is used on some pickup trucks but has had limited commercial success.
