German term

Naheliegen

German to English Law/Patents Law: Patents, Trademarks, Copyright Injunction
This sentence is in a court document regarding the refusal to grant an injunction. It states the reason why the respondents consider that an injunction should not be issued:

Insbesondere handele es sich bei dem Einsatz von „Produkt X" um kein gegenüber dem beanspruchten Rutheniumsalz äquivalentes Mittel, da es insoweit sowohl an der Gleichwirkung, als auch am Naheliegen und der Gleichwertigkeit fehle

obviousness

I come across this a lot in patent cases, though usually as an adjective (obvious). You might be able to rewrite the sentence so as to fit in an adjective if you don't like the rather clumsy "obviousness"

similarity

is the word I'd suggest here. I'd suggest it's on the same language level as "Gleichwirkung" and "Gleichwertigkeit", and has to be very well worth considering.

Background info

Nach der deutschen Rechtsprechung muss ein Ersatzmittel die gleiche technische Wirkung haben wie das beanspruchte Mittel (Gleichwirkung), und für den Fachmann muss ohne erfinderische Überlegungen ersichtlich sein, dass sich damit dieselbe Funktion erfüllen lässt (Naheliegen); außerdem muss der Fachmann die abgewandelte Ausführungsform als äquivalente Lösung ansehen (Äquivalenz).

According to German case law a replacement means must have the same technical effect as the means specified in the claim (equal effect); a skilled person must be able to see, without inventive considerations, that this replacement means fulfils the same function (obviousness) and he/she must consider this departing embodiment as an equivalent solution (equivalence).
