Hello all,
I am translating a lawyer's letter dealing with his client's questions concerning inheritance.
I understand this to mean: "are entitled to" or literally" 1/3 of the estate shall go to each of the heirs".
Have I got the sense right (and is there a better way of saying it?).
Many thanks.

It would be useful to know what the sentence before this said, but I assume it is regarding the concept of "successione legittima" or "legitime" in English. It's a Roman Law concept unknown to Common Law, according to which at least a portion of the decedent estate must be equally divided among the next-of-kins. The remaining amount can be allocated according to the decedentàs wishes in a will.
