Indipendentemente dal metodo di tessitura che si utilizzerà, la fibra di cashmere necessita di un laborioso processo di preparazione con diversi trattamenti – **prima apertura**, pulitura, mescolatura -, che avvengono con l'utilizzo di appositi macchinari nei reparti mischie.
On one website (I've lost it now), I found "sfilacciatura" as a synonym, but elsewhere the definitions I found of that word talk about reused wool, whereas this text is talking about new wool.
Can anybody help me?

: You may be right, but you haven't proved a connection between the Italian and English words, and tradugrace's reference has "egiarratura" for "dehairing".
