Context: "When you wind in the line on an ordinary fishing reel, the line is usually pulled in smoothly over a guide on a wire frame called a bail, then wound around a spool that is set centrally to the bail." What would that "bail" be called in Afrikaans?

beuel

Cilliers' technical dictionary has "beuel" for bail in a number of applications that would seem to be similar artifacts as the bail of a reel. The bail is that thin, semi-circular part that sometimes flips up to release the line quickly.

Ek is glad nie seker nie!
Peer comment(s):

disagree Samuel Murray : I realise you're just guessing, but the bail is part of the reel, so "katrol" (reel) can't be it.
