defective left-handed cover

I think "default" refers to the fact that a defect was found in the "LH COUV"...which by the way I'm not sure refers to "left-handed cover", but I am pretty sure that whatever it is is defective.

My guess is that \"default\" in the original French is a typo and they meant to write \"defaut\" which means \"defect\".

COMMENT

Now, let's be logical here!

I agree with the previous answerer that it looks very much like a typo for 'défaut' — but as s/he also says, I'm not convinced that LH could be English — why would just the one word be, it doesn't make much sense to me?!

So, do I have any bright ideas what LH could be? Sadly, NO! But can the Asker give us any more context — this is something in a car factory, right? Is it to do with the paint shop? ANY clues at all (what TYPE of defects are being reported, etc.) would give us just that bit more context to go on.

If not, maybe this is one where only the client can answer?

Best of luck, and please do try to give us some more context if you can!
