Weltpatent einsetzen

A new world patent was inaugurated? instituted? used? established? exploited?

employ ... a worldwide patent

Or "used".
Peer comment(s):

agree Deborah Shannon : Yes, "we used..."(the sentence itself needs a total overhaul!) And wouldn't it be more accurate to say a patented product or process rather than just a patent?

agree Renate FitzRoy : it is really 'verquastes Deutsch'

agree Kim Metzger : Yes, the patented product/process was used to assess a risk.

Peer comment(s):

disagree Kim Metzger : You need to back up your "take" with something solid, like references or an explanation based on your knowledge of patents. And there's a world of difference btwn procure and apply.

exploited

Sounds like the kind of news shareholders like to hear, therefore, carefully worded to show that the SOLE LICENSEE under the Max-Planck patent is XX. This is relevant in a business context more than a strictly health-related context. Therefore, I would go with "exploited."

Patents are exploited in such a context and license rights are certainly exploited. They (and their associates) have exclusive worldwide exploitation rights. That is in fact something to crow about.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Kim Metzger : Unworkable, I'm afraid. A patented product/process was 'eingesetzt' (employed/used) to assess a risk. A patent wasn't being exploited.
