Italian term

non mancare mai di sottolineare

Italian to English Art/Literary Other glossary/definitions
Further on, the author uses another form which is practically the same as this one. 'non perdere l'occasione di...'. Both are typically used in negative sentences, I have noticed, to point out (somebody's) bad habits, negative aspects, etc.

"...L'unica cosa che mio figlio non manca di sottolineare di continuo è il disprezzo per tutto ciò che la mia professione rappresenta, che gli mette a disposizione...".

Even though this sounds like a set phrase, I have been diddling with it for a while but haven't come up with any good ideas.

Thanks.
Change log

Feb 24, 2012 13:27: Russell Jones changed "Term asked" from "non mancare (mai) di sottolineare" to "non mancare mai di sottolineare"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (2): James (Jim) Davis, philgoddard

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

darwilliam (asker) Feb 25, 2012:
Likewise Happens to me, too. And usually it all falls into place.
James (Jim) Davis Feb 24, 2012:
When this happens to me after a couple of minutes I just put in the obvious, and the next morning when I read it through, I can't see what the problem was.

can be relied on to point out/ his favourite hobby horse is to

the latter would require a little reworking to accommodate, but is quite a good way to describe something that someone keeps banging on about at every available opportunity.

I also like Ellen's 'unfailingly'.
