Portuguese term

domiciliação (in this case)

Portuguese to English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
I have a complicated document about banking in PORTUGAL, in this case domiciliação is not the domicile or residence of the account holder:

Domiciliação SOI interrompida
Recuperação de domiciliação não associada a salários/pensões (potencial domiciliação de subsídio de desemprego)

Thanks!
Proposed translations (English)
4 +1 direct credit
4 direct debit

Discussion

Mark Robertson Jun 2, 2011:
You will see from the links I have posted that "direct deposit" is an alternative to "direct credit". I expect Gilmar will agree.
Mark Robertson Jun 2, 2011:
I am saying that it does not refer to direct debit at all.
judith ryan (asker) Jun 2, 2011:
this refers to a lot more than just direct debit!
Mark Robertson Jun 2, 2011:
DIRECT CREDIT In the source text all the items referred to: i.e. pensions, salaries and unemployment benefit are credits to, not payments from the account. In the opposite circumstance: e.g. payment of utility bills, the arrangement is referred to as direct debit.

An advantage of direct debiting for customers (and payees)is that payment is always made on time, thus avoiding penalties for late payment, and the customers do not have to take any action themselves.
English: eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUri...:0040:EN:PDF

Direct Debits are a convenient way for c onsumers to make recurring payments and an efficient method for companies to collect money such as bills for water, gas, electricity and telecom services as well for magazine and periodical subscriptions.

Yes, Mark. Direct deposit is widely used here in the States, and you're right that it's a credit/deposit rather than a debit when we're dealing with salaries, pensions, etc.

domiciliação is the term used when a regular payment due to a bank account holder is paid, e.g. by standing order/direct debit, into that bank account.

agree Gilmar Fernandes : Yes, your answer fits better the given context. I just refuse to be part of a discussion where the Asker rebuts an answer without giving full context. When I ask for help, even if the helper's sug. wasn't correct, I usually thank him/her for attempting.

Thanks. I agree with you. Etiquette is important in these remote interactions, but sometimes the pressure of work gets in the way.
