These hand-raisers aren't necessarily people who are ready to purchase cars, which is why I am looking for help on the best way to handle them. I send them information on the vehicle they requested and then never hear from them. It's almost a waste of time, but I don't want to just get rid of them as customers.

: потенциальный клиент - слишком общий термин. Суть передает приближенно, а потому будет неразличим с такими терминами, как lead и prospect. Самое хорошее, на мой взгляд, объяснение нашел Игорь Антипин, а перевод я бы взял у Latin-Russian: создание интереса
