Spanish term

metabolismo glucídico

Possibly could be "glycide metabolism", but would like some back up.
Thanks for the help in advance.

I agree with you Carolina. The choice of answer is very questionable. I researched this too and discovered that "glúcidos" = complex/simple carbohydrates.
Carolina Fryd (X) Nov 7, 2010:
Glucose is "a" carbohydrate, actually the most important, but it is not a synonym. Glucídico refers to "glúcidos" which is "carbohydrates" in English. Still, glucose metabolism is sometimes used as an equivalent for carbohydrate metabolism, which is in my opinion is the correct translation for "m. glucídico". Hope this clarifies...Kind regards, Carolina

I looked into the second page indicated by Mónica. They talk about "glucose metabolism". It may be they are the same but glucose is the sugar from grapes and others fruits, the same way saccharose is from sugar cane and they belong to different sugar groups and have a different chemistry composition. This is the description: " Abstract: The present study was designed to examine, whether rabbits fed a diet containing High Fat (HF) could develop obesity and be predisposed to developing metabolic syndrome (Mets). The results have shown an increased adipose accumulation with a significant weight gain and an increase in abdominal circumference, periscapolar fat and liver weight in rabbits fed HF diets compared to rabbits fed a Low Fat (LFC) diet, associated with higher levels of plasma glucose, insulin and lower levels of High-Density-Lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol in the rabbits fed the HF diets than the rabbits fed the LFC diet. An Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) has been performed to evaluate glucose metabolism; the plasma glucose levels in the rabbits fed the HF diets were constantly higher (statistically significant at 0, 60, 90, 120 and 240 min) than in the rabbits fed the LFC diet. carbohydrate metabolism
