Discussion

Adrian MM. (X) Oct 30, 2010:
Writeaway Right Writeaway, except the English succession terms of advancement and hotchpot (set-off) are not actually used in the EN quotes, even by the most eminent and distinguished Jacques B.

@Tom covered in the ref I posted (and found on the www)
Adrian MM. (X) Oct 30, 2010:
Consider advancements and hotchpot My take as a ProZ non-member: 'as an advancement {over and above a beneficiary's share} and not to be brought into hotchpot'. The question needs to be thrown open if I'm to explain an advancement and hotchpot (note spelling). And I agree with Fourth about the obscurity of the last answer accepted.
IATE: FR à titre de préciput et hors part
EN portion devolved in advance upon a heir over and above his equal share with the others
Jack Dunwell Oct 29, 2010:
This is not an entirely valuable discussion The existing proz reference is not very good, is it? Bridge gives "in addition to the heir's share of the estate" Which moves us forward and improves the existing situation. I think that it is useful to be generous and inclusive.
Tony M Oct 29, 2010:
Thanks, Phil ...but here is not the appropriate place to discuss this matter.

Tony: I wish moderators would invoke this rule more often - I don't remember ever seeing it cited before.
