attestation d'établissement

Law (general)
Swiss residency regulations
The name of a document that one has to obtain from the commune when living in any town in Switzerland. I've also come across "attestation de sejour", "attestation de residence" and "attestation de domicile", so I am not too sure how they all differ. This is presumably a certificate of established residence, or some such, but it would be good to hear from someone who actually knows!
Thanks in advance.

Residence permit
I would say that it is more a permit to allow one live there, than a statement that one is actually living in Switzerland. The German version suggest more of a "permit"
