I'm thinking along the lines of:
"a novel modular and scalable system for automated container storage using mobile shuttle transportation vehicles that can travel along the shelves"
but that really doesn't sound quite right to me.
The general context is an automated warehouse system with shuttle transportation vehicles such as the SAVOYE PTS Picking Tray System.

Magmatic offers storage and retrieval flexibility using autonomous battery-powered vehicles running through the racking structure, each able to access any pallet position at any time.

I could also interpret "im Regal" as meaning in the aisle between the racks.
Do you have more context as to where/how exactly they travel?
