Tronc-Abgabe

German to English Law/Patents Law: Taxation & Customs gambling casinos
In einer weiteren Entscheidung hat der BFH auch der Tronc-Abgabe nach dem NSpielbG 1973 Steuercharakter zugebilligt.
Sorry it is supposed to be some form of tip for workers in casinos but I have no idea what it could be in English as I am not a gambler ;-).

You might have to rephrase, look at the website for what is really involved here.

Weitere Unterstützung gibt es aus dem Topf der sogenannten Tronc-Abgabe (Steuer auf Spielbank-Trinkgelder).

Just had a quick look on the WWW, and it would appear that in most countries (except UK) it is standard practise to tip the dealer/croupier of whichever game you are playing (for good luck!). In which case, his/her tips probably should be taxed...
In UK, though, you can tip the waiting and bar staff (within the casino).

If this is specifically for casinos, maybe you could say something like tip tax (for gaming staff/casino staff)

You're spot on - it is a tip, for whatever purpose. It is most commonly known in catering, where waiters who receive tips put them into a "tronc" (which is derived from the French, for a collecting-box) for distribution at a later time. You could also call it a "tronc tax".
