The expression "pesce scorpione" was in none of my dictionaries and I got no Italian hits on the web, so I did need the references.

I have read and seen this fish described countless times, particularly on nature documentary programs of the American cable channel "Discovery." I believe the fish has lots of spines on it...needless to say!...nevertheless, it would be translated precisely with the same conveyance of meaning as in the Italian. :-) Gary
