Spanish term

Cada turbina provee bajo desnivel liquido de 36.7 m

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Energy / Power Generation
Hi Proz,
The sentence is as follows:
Cada turbina provee, bajo desnivel liquido de 36.7 m, la potencia en el eje es de 3,230 kW para funcionamiento continuo.
Do they mean each turbine operates under a water level of 36.7 m and the pwer in the shaft is 3,230 kW for continuous operation??
Thanks

And I would say here "under a water head of 36,7 m...".

agree Kathryn Litherland : For hydroelectric I think simply "head" is even more common http://www1.eere.energy.gov/windandhydro/hydro_glossary.html

Thanks, Katryn. I thought this, too, but decided to hedge and support the bet... and overdid it. That's what happens when you are not a native... Ah, and thanks for the link
agree Laureana Pavon : As Kathryn says, I´d also use simply "head"

Gracias, Laureana. Y como habrás visto en mi respuesta a Kathryn, estoy totalmente de acuerdo con las dos.
agree cranesfreak : agree. just "water head of 36.7 m" without "under a". saludos :))

under a water level difference of 36,7 m

Pretty bad grammar in your spanish ST. mi interpretation of the sentence would be something along these lines:

Cada turbina provee, bajo desnivel liquido de 36.7 m, 3,230 kW de potencia en el eje para funcionamiento continuo.

Each turbine provides/generates, under a water level difference of 36,7 m, 3.230 kW of power at the shaft ...

Sorry for the typo: "My interpretation ..."

Also decimal points and commas are changed in my answer (in spanish it should be 36,7 m and 3.230 kW, the other way around in english, usually)
