Slovak term

herná istina

Slovak to English Other Gaming/Video-games/E-sports
Reference sentence:
Pod pojmom herná istina sa rozumie rozdiel medzi prijatými vkladmi do hry a vyplatenými výhrami z hry na všetkých termináloch prevádzkovaných v určenom časovom období.

The term refers to the difference between the wager bet in the game (vklad do hry) and the winnings paid out from the game (výhra z hry). I have seen terms such as "game principal" and "gross wager", but cross=checking on Google do not show these results. By the same token, !game capital" (Spielkapital) seems to refer to what the bettor has available for betting, not the difference between wagers bet in and winnings paid out. Any suggestions.

(gaming) hold

At least in Nevada, the term "hold" is used to represent the difference between what a machine takes in and what it pays out.

See, for example, §6.040(2)(d) or §14.010(13) at the link below.

gross stake

Note from asker:
Commenting on your quote from "Tipos". The 2002 Annual Report uses "gross stake" and the 2009 Annual Report uses "gross wager" to translate "herna istiná" while the Ministry of Finance used "game principal". They all seem to be direct word-to-word translations, but IMHO describe what is put into the machine instead of the difference between what is put in and what is paid out.
