بناء على ذلك، فإن أساسيات أيّ علم تُعدّ أيضا من المهارات المكتسبة
أوليس معظم ما ذكر أعلاه مهارات أساسيّة؟
أرى أن القدرة على فهم الأرقام ، و العمليات الحسابية و إدراكهما تمثّل مرحلة أساسية /أوليّة من مراحل تعلّم الحساب
و القدرة على فهم هذه الأساسيات لا تتأتى إلا بالتعلّم
numeracy هي بالاحري مهارة أو مهارات الحساب وليس أساسيات الحساب وفقا للتعريف التالي
تشمل مهارة الحساب القدرة على فهم وأدراك الأرقام والعلامات الحسابية وتذكر الحقائق الحسابية مثل جدول الضرب وكذلك القدرة على وضع الأرقام في صفوف وفهم وملاحظة العلامات الحسابية
