LINGUISTIC GUESSING

She argued further that a small amount of contextual information (for example, the date of the passageas composition, a brief description of the text from which it comes, a brief analysis of the political/social context in which it was written, etc) would remind students that they are in the process of interpreting as well as translating, and would therefore encourage more intellectual effort and produce better translations.

(PSYCHO) LINGUISTIC GUESS -
(PSYCHO) LINGUISTIC GUESSING -
как метод

guessed meaning

I am pretty sure that this is a term used in linguistics (it's over 10 years since I read Chomsky so I don't claim any expertise these days).

The site below seems to confirm this particular yazikovaya dogadka!

maybe, based on kirill\'s observations - which seem valid - something like:

reasoned conjecture
reasoned interpretation of meaning
Peer comment(s):

agree Kirill Semenov (X) : Anyway, "guessed" is the meaning found, but the Asker needs to name "the ability of a person to find the meaning" :)
