French term

engagement de référence

French to English Marketing Environment & Ecology
This is a PR blurb / industry ad by a global company. (I'm not being cynical.) It's outling its achievements to date, ISO certifications, partnerships, etc. The last line is "Un engagement de référence." I know what it's saying but I can't for the life of me think of a good short snappy punchy phrase in English to match. Any ideas?

an exemplary track record exemplary standards

or something more natural like - we do nothing by halves, the full nine yards, the real McCoy....
Drmanu49 Nov 29, 2009:
agree with Writeaway for commitment but why not total commitment or totally commited?

Certainly not norm commitment which sounds awful.
Rimas Balsys (asker) Nov 29, 2009:
...commitment begs the question of... You're absolutely right. That's the problem. The phrase just hangs in the air at the end of the blurb. I read them to be rolling several ideas into one -- 'We're setting the standard' + 'We are fully ISO-compliant & certified' + 'You [customer] are getting the best in the field' + etc
writeaway Nov 29, 2009:
exemplary commitment ? just brainstorming. impossible to provide accurate help in the dark
polyglot45 Nov 29, 2009:
commitment begs the question of .. to what?

They are setting the standard ?
Rimas Balsys (asker) Nov 29, 2009:
Confident, professional, standard buzzwords (innovation, partnership, etc).
The only phrase I can think of is "A benchmark commitment" but I don't like it.
writeaway Nov 29, 2009:
target audience? Also, what is the register? What level of language is being used (in the original and/or in your translation)?

(When it comes to) commitment, we set the standard.

A commitment which sets a milestone

The wording in French is not that clear, it would be clearer with a context. "Un engagement qui fait référence" is probably what they mean ? Once again, the English wording may not be adequate. Your Disagrees are welcome. It's just a try.
