Non-religious terms to express spiritual truth
Greetings,
The central doctrine of Christianity is that everyone has sinned so no one has true righteousness and we can only avoid God’s terrible punishment (though truly deserved by us) for the bad things we have done by believing in Christ and following Him and thus obtaining His righteousness.
Having said that, I am definitely not looking for a “religious” word but rather a word that anyone can understand. For this reason, a Modern Standard Arabic word would suit best.
All the best, and many thanks,
Simon

Righteousness (also called rectitude) is an important theological concept in Judaism and Christianity. It is an attribute that implies that a person's actions are justified, and can have the connotation that the person has been "judged" or "reckoned" as leading a life that is pleasing to God.
