Dutch term
Programma van wensen
Dutch to English
Bus/Financial
Business/Commerce (general)
This appears in a procedure for product development used within a large organization. The proper English translation for "Programma van EISEN" has been asked here many times, and the preferred answer seems to be "Schedule of requirements" (although "Program(me) of requirements" also appears to be quite common). As far as I can tell, though, using this phrase for WENSEN ("Programme of wishes") seems to produce Dunglish. Does anyone know the proper English translation for this term? In this case I am looking for American English, but if there is a difference I would like to know the British English term as well (for future reference).

Or progam for the US. As per the discussion (and thanks for the hint, Ben!)

Comment: "Thanks to you all for your insightful suggestions. I really appreciate your help in this little brainstorming session. The Dutch organisation contacted the American one, and was told they don’t have any specific term for what is referred to as the PvW in the Netherlands. They said it is essentially the same thing as a Program of Requirements and told me to use PoR as the abbreviation. Apparently it has already been used in several previous translations as well. That’s good enough for me! So it turns out Olly was on the right track all along. KudoZ!"

I tend to translate 'wensen' as preferences.

In order to distinguish 'programma van wensen' from 'programma van eisen' (which is sometimes necessary) I would suggest Marijke's (and Jarry's) suggestion 'preferred options'.
