Would please help me understand the sentence below? I don't know what point the author is trying to make by using the word "portfolio" here. Here goes:

I don't think portfolio means anything other than a suitcase here. The person is just being described. It may also suggest that the briefcase carries that company's logo.

I don't think this means literally "working for" the organization, rather being a big supporter of it.

: Actually it does, since he is more like a representative of that company, so he carries their portfolio within his speeches, representations regarding and concerning that of AIPAC.
