Hi Lingo. Not wrong really, just a nuance/flavor - You may beg to differ, but IMHO the word אגירה is used pretty much (if not solely) for things you try to collect, keep (for use), hold, preserve:
מאגרי מים, אגירת חומרי תזונה או מי גשמים, מאגרי מידע, מאגר החוכמה...
מאגר = reservoir (note the root).

It is rarely (if ever) used for waste and debris.
We do not use לאגור אשפה unless we use it. Otherwise we use סילוק
We only use אגירת מי שופכין when we want to clean and use it.

BTW - the best synonym for לאגור is לאצור.
Here the root אוצר is really crying-out - don't you agree?

Hi Ron, אוגר is collect. It doesn't necessarily mean you keep what you collect... </br>As I understand it, the debris boot either collects dirt that should be cleaned (probably as preventive maintenance) or acts as an indicator that dirt has accumulated. </br>

I don't get what is wrong about it being a positive/functional part?

Hi Lingo, I think אוגר is too positive/functional Debris is something you collect to in order to remove,
while אגירה implies you like to keep the content.
Shai's לוכד can work better, as well as the neutral

Jonathan, if the boot is a small chamber inside a main cap, then תא will work. If it is a cap withing a cap, then I think מכסה is more appropriate.</br>
How about אוגר פסולת?

Ron - thanks, the link you found is close enough to the source I'm translating but כוסית משקעים is more suitable for the "sediment Bowel" which is a different part of the fuel system - see part 2 in page 138 of the link you sent.

Shai - it is not a barrier preventing debris entering the tank as it is on a detachable cap, and I also found a reference to it on an airplane checklist.

Could it be for catching debris that float to the top of the fuel?
On the other hand it also exists inside a corvette engine - http://www.corvettecentral.com/techtalk/

In any case I guess it does not yet have a name in Hebrew

Boot (in this context) is usually some kind of cover (usually made of rubber). In this case maybe it means כיסוי לוכד לכלוך or simply מלכודת לכלוך that acts as a barrier and prevents debris from infiltrating the tank (even more if it is a vented fuel cap or fuel filler assembly) - does it make any sense to you in this case?

Can you provide some more context? Is it part of the cap itself, or a part of the fuel filler tube? Is it the fuel tank of a regular car, or of other vehicle/equipment?
