Discussion

Igor Liba Aug 20, 2009:
skor ako jazyk zvazte krajinu v ktorej sa bude preklad pouzivat, pretoze specialist registrar -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Specialist_registrar
Jakub Minarik (asker) Aug 20, 2009:
target language je britska anglictina
Maria Chmelarova Aug 20, 2009:
skor ako sa rozhodnete skuste si precitat napr. www.americanhospitals.com/boardcetified.htm, pripadne ine w, lebo z vasho postu tiez nie je jasne pre ktoru krajinu hladate vyraz.
Jakub Minarik (asker) Aug 20, 2009:
ano, prirozdene - viem co je atestacia, len som potreboval potvrdit/vyvratit ci sa "lekar s atestaciou" da prelozit ako "specialist registrar". Ale v kazdom pripade dakujem!
Maria Chmelarova Aug 20, 2009:
lekar s atestaciou atestacia - kvalifik. skuska lekarov na ziskanie osvedcenia odb. lakara, specialistu v urcitom odbore mediciny ...
lekar s atestaciu - kt. ju uz ma
Gerry Vickers Aug 20, 2009:
It's a bit of a grey area as there is no precise equivalent, but yes. It could also be a 'consultant', as a consultant has to have a Certificate of Completion of Training, but then you start to get into 'Primár' territory...

consultant

I would be more inclined to use this term as "Specialty Registrar" is, according to Wikipedia, a new training grade introduced in 2007 into UK medical training, so somebody in training to gain 'atestáciu'.
Peer comment(s):

agree Gerry Vickers : I was going to suggest this as an answer, but I chickened out :) The only problem with this is where does 'primár' come in? - Actually I think that 'primár' would be 'clinical lead', which is more of a management post

Well, I would think that "primár" would be probably "senior consultant".
neutral Dr Lofthouse : 'specialist registrars' work under the supervision of 'consultants ' in the NHS, if that helps

ak by sme uvazovali o UK mozno by som pouvazoval nad vyrazom „consultant physician“ aby bolo jasne, ze ide o lekara. (podobne existuje aj „consultant nurse“)
