Every sermon must have “points of access” or places where the message “comes alive” for the listener. That is, there must be in every sermon something that will connect with the listeners and ***draw them in to the message and its usefulness*** in their lives. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, some people will be reached in ways that the evangelist cannot anticipate. However, the evangelist should prepare the sermons (with prayer and study) in such a way that he incorporates opportunities where the sermon will provide those “points of access.” In faith, the evangelist commits what he has prepared to the use of the Holy Spirit. The evangelist is the vehicle; the message, through the Holy Spirit, is the cargo that will reach the heart of the listener.
