English term or phrase:
local driving speeds
Spanish translation:
a velocidades de conducción por calles y avenidas/fuera de autopistas/en viajes de corta distancia
English term
local driving speeds
Unlike regular hybrids that use a gasoline engine in combination with an electric motor most of the time, plug-ins can run on purely electric power-deliverated in an overnight battery charge from a standard home wall socket- for the first 25 to 30 miles of local driving speeds.

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

• ... at local driving speeds I was about 10 degrees over ambient, and at highway speeds I was 2-4 degrees above ambient. (http://www.fjcruisersontario.com/forums2/forums/viewtopic.ph... )
• Sienna seems 'OK' at lower 'local driving' speeds, but on the highway, the trouble begins. (http://www.autotropolis.com/cs/forums/25192/showthread.aspx )
• I drive 45 miles each way to my office. 45% of the drive is on expressway at 65-70 mph. 45% is on two-lane state highway at 55 mph. 10% is local driving speed. (http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=286... )
• These warnings may be given literally as written electronic messages on announcement boards mounted over the roads (‘traffic jam ahead’), or better still, they may give pertinent information about a safe local driving speed. (http://www.iatss.or.jp/pdf/research/24/24-2-05.pdf )
• High velocity travel (over 50 mph) is fairly regular in nature (freeway travel with limited exit points, for example). Very low velocities (under 0.5 mph) are often associated with essentially stationary behavior (example: in the office with trips to the restroom or lunch-room). In between (pedestrian to local driving speeds) is the range where location events that interest the client 20 are likely to happen. (http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/6519530/description.html )
Creo que si usases "velocidades de conducción locales" no estarías diciendo nada concreto.

Daniel
