French term

Conditions d'affermissement

French to English Bus/Financial Law: Contract(s)
This is in a contract that has two sections, a "Tranche ferme" and a "Tranche conditionelle"which so far I have translated as "Firm scope" and "Conditional scope". The "Conditions d'affermissement" appear to be the conditions which lead to activation of the "Tranche conditionelle". While I believe understand the operation of this section, is there a proper term in English?

John Fossey (asker) Jul 15, 2009:
More context The contract is for supply of vaccines. The "Tranche conditionelle" is a clause that kicks in only if an event occurs. The event in question is the WHO raising the pandemic level to level 6, which has just happened. So the clause has now become activated since its "Conditions d'affermissement" have been achieved.

Conditions for confirmation

Conditions required to be met in order to make firm the conditional part of the work. Also, I would not have a problem with "firm tranche" and "conditional tranche" for the different segments of the work to be performed.

agree B D Finch : Or even confirmation conditions. Very generous of you to correct "scope" to "tranche" - I agree with that too.

contracting conditions

Affermissement is a form of contract used for having private-sector enterprises manage and maintain etc. public-sector services such as water supply, sewage, public lighting. Compare this to our own "farming out" of work.

Tranche can be translated as "tranche" in this context.

More context might help fine tune it, but I hope this will put you on the right track.

Activation conditions?? What was previously a hypothetical contract has now been "activated" into a "firm tranche"?

TRIGGER conditions sounds better.

validating conditions

Hello,

These conditions "give force" to or "solidify" the conditions in the conditional section/tranche.
