Developed to help electronics manufacturers detect product defects and production flaws, Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) forces infancy PC board and component failures that would otherwise occur after final assembly and product delivery. (Thermotron Industries)
Environmental-stress screening (ESS) is an essential step in the design cycle of electronic systems, particularly as these systems shrink in size and increase in complexity to satisfy the growing customer need for low-power, portable, high-quality gadgets. (Reed Business Information)

Discussion

Birgit Samuel Jul 17, 2009:
Yarramalong, now that I see what you write for the second time I would like to suggest that you post your suggestions as a translation, not discussion, so that others can vote on it. Birgit
Yarramalong Jul 17, 2009:
I would recommend multiple terms because DIN uses them as synonyms:
a) burn-in test
b) Sortierprüfung unter Umweltbeanspruchung
c) zeitraffende Voralterung
Yarramalong Jul 14, 2009:
"environmental stress screening
Synonym burn-in test
test(s) carried out to improve the product reliability by identifying manufacturing defects and early mortality
Sortierprüfung unter Umweltbeanspruchung
Synonym zeitraffende Voralterung

Prüfung(en) zur Verbesserung der Produktzuverlässigkeit durch Ermittlung von Fabrikationsfehlern und Frühausfällen"
