This term appears in a description of a drug used to treat excessive muscle contraction in musculoskeletal disorders. -- this drug is Muscoril (thiocolchicoside).
The sentence is basically: "... il tiocolchicoside e' caratterizzato da proprieta' miorilassanti e *decontratturanti* ... .
This question has already been asked here before ... but in the Cosmetics and Beauty section. The answer that was chosen there is "tension relieving", which sounds reasonable, but I don't think it fits in a medical article.
Is there a more appropriate, specific translation for this term in a medical context? Could it be 'anti-spasmodic'?

"Decontratturanti" è un tecnicismo ed è sinonimo di "miorilassanti". Sono infatti andato a vedermi la definizione sul dizionario, che ha confermato quanto pensavo:

Non so quindi quale sia la sfumatura di significato che gli autori del testo abbiano arbitrariamente attribuito alla parola in questione. Si tratta forse della solita ridondanza tipica dell'italiano?
Io francamente lascerei "muscle relaxant" come parola che include entrambi i termini sinonimici.
