Italian term

noce colore

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Materials (Plastics, Ceramics, etc.) Wood
Context: a description of furniture in a catalogue.

The client states that it's a type of wood called "noce colore", and I have found other sites that mention this as a type of wood alongside other types.

I don't think I can use just walnut here. Any ideas?

For some reason this question was closed automatically, although I don't think I had checked that option when I asked the question. Anyway, the client didn't give me any more information about the material and I was told they used "colour" walnut. Thanks to all.
Maria Vita Licata May 11, 2009:
Well, it has to be said that "noce colore" sounds terrible also in Italian, anyway if the producer specifies the noce is a colour, maybe the piece of forniture is not original walnut wood. I strongly doubt there's a wood called noce colore, if i really exists, it surely is not derived from natural wood...walnut colour seems to fit. Just ask the client how does the noce colore wood is produced=
Hilary Bruce (asker) May 11, 2009:
for Maria If the client had wanted to say walnut colour, wouldn't it read colore noce? If I put walnut colour and it is actually walnut wood then I wouldn't have done justice to the quality of the product.
Maria Vita Licata May 11, 2009:
Just add "colour" > walnut colour. Let's see the link:

I've gone back to the client for more info. I was really hoping someone would say "Oh, that's ....", but it's never that easy is it. I've asked the client for more info, supplier refs etc so I'll leave the question open for a few days whilst I wait for their reply. In the meantime, thanks to you all for your input.

walnut

Colore Noce is called in this way because it is supposed to be derived from walnut tree; tha raw material from which the kitchens are made. In the catalogue of ASTRA kitchens for example, "noce" or "color noce"is translated by walnut. I hope to be of some help;-)
Example sentence:

the warmth that only an Italian walnut kitchen can convey

Note from asker:
Hi Maria. In this case, it's not colore noce but noce Colore. I'm afraid that if I use just walnut and it is a processed material deriving from walnut but is not actually walnut it could be misleading.

warm (or light) walnut

I'm probably going to get blasted for this, yet here we go:
Looking at your links it seems to be what we call warm or light walnut finish/color as opposed to "dark walnut"
Frankly I would be "safe" and just call it warm walnut..which applies to just about the entire range

light walnut or warm walnut= light /medium brown

Noce colore -

looked on 'wikispecies' and found 'black walnut' is juglans nigra in latin - with picture . On the italian page, it is called 'noce nero' - <http://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Juglans_nigra>, I think overall you'd be better off referring to the general 'Walnut' colour
