L'armatura evidenzia le fiamme e l’irregolarità del filato donando una superficie tridimensionale e ricca al tessuto

Marie, I think the expression for "le fiamme e l’irregolarità" is "nubs and slubs", as in "nubbed silk" and "slubbed silk".

facing

I guess it's a facing on a uniform for soldiers, since the word armatura means an armor.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Angela Arnone : This is not a term regarding armour, it's to do with textile finish

Fiammato

Slub yarns are yarns of variable denier which are useful for providing special texture to fabrics. The frequent changes in denier along the length of the yarn provide a raised surface in finished fabric which is quite obvious and pleasing to the viewer. This effect is well recognized, for example, in linen fabrics.

The terms "slub" and "nep" have been used in the prior art to describe an agglomeration of entangled fibers which provide segments along the length of the yarn with increased diameter. Often the term "nep" has been associated with an undesirable agglomeration along the yarn. On the other hand, the term "slub" is usually applied to a desirable agglomeration. The art of making slub yarns from natural fibers has been practiced for hundreds of years, and more recently processes have been developed for preparing slub yarns from continuous multifilament synthetic yarns.

Da quello che vedo, i tessuti fiammati sono i "slub yarns", quindi, penso che il termine giusto per "fiamma" sia "slub"...

Dupioni silks - an affordable alternative to more expensive silks. Dupioni is also known as "slub" silk. The slubs in the fabric are *not* imperfections, this is the way dupioni is made and slubs are normal.

When denim was just a sturdy cloth for workmen, it came with "slubs," or irregular puffy swellings in the cotton fiber, until improvements in spinning eliminated them. Now slubs are back in fashion, so the electronic controls in new plants pulse the flow of raw cotton into the spinning machines to produce the imperfections designers want.
Peer comment(s):

agree Angela Arnone : I think that Oana has got this in the right order - the fiamma is the slub and the "irregolarità" is the nub!
