I am looking for the translation of the word "orientation"
This document comes from Strasbourg
"bilan d'orientation" is the heading for biochemistry tests including (glucose, urea, creatinine, electrolytes,CRP, cardiac markers, GFR,Digoxin) done the 1st and second day of hospitalization and then 3 weeks later.
Now, I know that "orientation" can mean "referral" except I have never seen "referral Lab tests/work".
The curious thing is that the patient had Hematology and Hemostasis tests performed as well on those same days as well as on other days but no mention of "bilan d'orientation" on those.
Any idea/suggestion would be very helpful.
Thank you.

Chemistry Panel
it means screening set of tests, frequently in Chemistry either for detection or screening or for follow=up in a given area of concern. It can be general or specific to given organs or disease area interests. The point is that it is a set of related testing to systematically cover the possible abnormalities to guide further diagnosis or monitor treatment. See reference.

Consultation Report
I notice in Word Reference that 'orientation' can mean 'consultation'. 'bilan' may be a list of test results of the analytes and cardiological checkup, so I think 'report' is appropriate here as it is more comprehensive and covers all the terms included. It is also used when one is an in-patient.'Referral' is definitely inaccurate.

preliminary workup
Hello,
I think this is a workup of lab tests to get the doctor on the right track diagnostically-speaking (treatment as well).
