I woule reword it as below...
Investigate to see if you can; use a newsletter format effectively to promote your products or service, maintain contact with customers or donors in relation to purchases and personal sales roles.
"personal sales roles" are those of an in-store salesperson. Some are joint sales in conjunction with another salesperson, others are off the shelf sales where the customer didn't require assistance.
Personal sales are the ones where you had to complete the entire sale, from meeting the customer to ringing up the sale on the til or writing the contract.

I am usually way too busy to do this, but I squeeze it in between my other work, of writing instruction manuals, contracts, work place safety information, and designing new products and ESL teaching.

Yes I did, but the origional sentence was a bit funny and I was going to agree with your explanation, but I also wanted to offer a better more readable sentence.

IMO 'sales calls' (customer visits by a salesperson) would be much more logical here. I don't known any relevant meaning of 'sales rolls' in this context.

I do not think you can be sure. This is certainly one sentence to ask the client.
Unless sales roles is used later or even sales rolls - in the sense I used it, there is no guarantee that it is what I suggest.
