I believe you are right Alexander and you have given yourself the answer. In one translation I did for industrial machinery 'ingombro' was translated into 'clearance'...since it must take into consideration even the smallest protrusion which in fact requires space in excess of the machines measurements.....so to me it should be measurements and clearance. The word 'dimension' fits better in a caoacity context. Am I confusing?

That's a possibility. The machine does have a couple of small protrusions etc. that stick out from the main body, and so clearance must be calculated for them even though they themselves don't take up very much space.

do you get the impression that ingombri adds any meaning to dimensioni? Otherwise simply Size might be ok
