Appears in a modern play in a sequence about a TV game show. The phrase is 'JEU CHARLY'. Does anyone know anything about the show or how the title should be translated before cultural transposition. 'Charly' is also a commune - does the show come from here?

Charly
I think that the play is referring to Charly Oleg who used to play the electric organ on a French game show called "Tournez Manège" in the 80's. (In the US it was the "Dating Game" adapted to a French public). He used to play a little part of a song and contestants had to guess the title of the song. His participation was not the game show in itself, it was only part of the game show. I would compare it to calling it, 'Charly's name that song' game. Perhaps there is someone who is or was famous for that game in the UK, but if not, I would just call it the 'name that song' game, leaving out the name Charly or any other name.

Yes, I used to watch the show. I've lived in France for ages....it seems. I remember when the TV only came on at night, too, no day time shows at all.

Charlie Game(s)
also : Charlie's Games
it exists in English. You should verify if it's the same type of a game.

jeu (game) Charly ?
The only idea I've got if 'jeu' means game and not the actor playing is the game "où est Charlie ?". Maybe those references will help.
But I am not sure about it, context would help.

: That was my thought too. But without context, who knows?
