Austrian fairy tales
I'm working on a collection of Austrian fairy tales and have gathered a lot of phrases that I take to be out-dated idioms. I was wondering if anyone could confirm my interpretations and/or help with suitable translations.
This is from "Der junge Graf, der in die Unterwelt kam".
"Eines Tages kam eine alte Bettlerin auf das Schloß und bat um eine Gabe. Als die Alte von der Gräfin reichlich beschenkt wurde, dankte sie und sprach: "**Über das
Jahr** wirst du einen Sohn gebären, den sollst du Karl nennen." (...) Nach einem Jahre erfüllte sich die Weissagung..."
I initially read this as "within a year" but as it then says "after a year", I wondered whether it should be "in a year's time". How does anyone else read this?

in a year's time
The meaning of this old-fashioned expression, "über das/über's Jahr" is "nach Ablauf eines Jahres" or "nach einem Jahr", not "innerhalb eines Jahres".

within the year
Within the year sounds fine; and then perhaps by the end of the year for nach einem Jahre.

: I prefer this, for the rhythm. But "at the end of the year" would be more correct for "nach einem Jahre".

In the course of a year
Sounds sufficiently fairy-tale prophecy-like

After a year, then for the second query - sorry forgot to add that.
