I'm not that sure, but this sounds like it might be a notch or cut out.

would that fit the context?

If only there was context. :) These are all just brief notes about support calls, so I don't even know what kind of lens they're talking about.

agree Hidetoshi kudo : "cut-out" or "opening" may be the one. Sometines "抜けが良い" refers to good quality of lens, but not for this particular case since it says "2箇所".

agree Derek Newpor (X) : Haven't heard from Casey-san for a while, but I tend to agree with Kudoh-san's comment here. Perhaps "indentation" might be a less harsh word in this case
